Footings poured

Today we poured concrete for the retaining wall footings and the concrete pads for the piers. Estimating the amount needed was a bit tricky and we ended up getting more concrete than we needed but the some of the leftovers filled some of the blocks to be used in the retaining wall and the rest went to a hastily formed up spot at Al’s place.
We had a four barrows on the go, wheeling the concrete from the truck into place so it was pretty quick. I tipped the full barrow over heading around the corner and felt like a goose.
After morning tea Simon went and got a trailerload of sand and some cement ready for building the retaining wall and piers and Pete put the blocks out on the ground ready to be laid. I went off to work – finding it weird spending half the day in building world and half in web developer world. Al and I talked today about getting a good plan in place so we know which days building will be on and I can plan work stuff so I can be on site as much as possible on those days.
